About Jake Borrett

My name is Jake Borrett, I am twenty-seven and I am a writer and broadcaster from Hertfordshire.

I have Crohn's disease, dyspraxia, anxiety and depression. My dad has primary progressive multiple sclerosis. I raise awareness of hidden disabilities and mental health conditions through this website, 'Jake Borrett's Writing Blog'.

In April 2017, I won ‘Radio Presenter of the Year’ at the Trident Media Awards in connection with University of Hertfordshire.

In June 2017, I was awarded the ‘Matthew Hunt Award’ from the Dyspraxia Foundation for my ‘outstanding achievement in raising awareness of dyspraxia’.

In June 2018, I complete a tandem skydive for Crohn's and Colitis UK and Dyspraxia Foundation. Together we raised over £2,000 for the two charities who support thousands of people in the United Kingdom living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease and dyspraxia.

In October 2018, I was a finalist for the President’s Award as part of the St. Albans Chamber of Commerce’s Community Business Awards 2018. I am humbled to have been presented with these nominations and awards, but cannot thank you enough for supporting me along the way. These awards and successes are dedicated to all of you who have hidden disabilities and mental health conditions.

I write newspaper articles, and appear on radio shows and television programmes. I love to write stories, poetry and scripts covering a range of subjects from health to family. I am also currently working on a young adult fiction novel. I am also very open to media appearances. You can contact me via email at jakeb3@hotmail.co.uk.

If you are inspired by my experiences of living with hidden disabilities and mental health conditions, then I will never stop writing and broadcasting. Thank you and have a great day.
