Hey everyone! Jake here!

It is that time again where I share to you some of the Stunning YouTube Videos I have across the internet in May. To get on this list they had to be inspiring, emotional or funny. So if yours falls under any of these categories you may see it on the list in the near future.

So here we go. Here is the selection for May.

Video 1: ‘Look Up’ by Gary Turk
‘Look Up’ is a beautifully haunting spoken word by Gary Turk. It looks out how modern day society has changed the way in which we interact with one another. With the increasingly presence of social media we may find ourselves in the position where we only talk to each other through the internet, rather than face to face. So there is a chance that we could miss out on forming real lifelong friendship or romances that we could of had if we met them in real life.
As many of you know I am great fan of writing poetry. What Gary has produced is simply incredible. So if one day my work gets to his level I will be immensely proud.

Video 2: ‘Honest Trailers- The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ by Screen Junkies
As stated earlier you can get mentioned here if you produce funny videos. This is exactly what Screen Junkies does with their ‘Honest Trailers’. These are insightfully clever features that look a movie and interpret it in a more controversial yet more truthful way.
Admittedly I have watched a number of these videos this month. One which is particularly brilliant was their commentary on ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’. They have certainly done a great job in recognising the highlights and flaws of the adapted fantasy novel by J. R. R. Tolkien. One of my highlights is the fact there are so many character names to remember, it almost becomes like a test. Please do give Screen Junkies’ work a watch. It is well edited and certainly hilarious.

Video 3: ‘#ViolenceIsViolence: Domestic abuse advert Mankind’ by ManKindInitiative
It takes a lot to shock me, but this video by ManKindInitiative has certainly given it a go. The charity experimented to see whether the public would react differently to two domestic abuse cases. The first one shows a woman being attacked by a man, whilst the second one switches their roles around. Without revealing too much I can tell you that the results are deeply saddening.
We as a society should not tolerate violence, no matter the circumstances involved. To get this message across please do watch and share this video if you have not done so already. It is for a great cause. Thank you in advance.

Once again I have to say an enormous thank you to all three YouTubers who have created such outstanding work. If you have enjoyed any of them, why not subscribe to their pages?

So could your video be featured next time? Do you have one to recommend? Let us know in the comment section below, and you never know you may see it featured next time.

Until that day in June, thank you.

Viewing From Above

Viewing From Above

Dear citizens beneath,

I have been asked on behalf of my constituency to complain about your irritating behaviour, and whether you would do us all the courtesy of stopping. Let me give you some examples of I have personally viewed from above.

Irrespective of your age or gender, it would seem you all avidly dawdle with electrical devices. It is not the product itself which seems to be the problem, but you are, the users. You insist that rattling up the volume to its maximum degree on the television. This should be the solution so you can hear that Jonathan Clarkson talk about the latest Jaguar model ‘you must have’ on the show Up Gear. I am not the sort of fellow who wants or needs to learn about that. I have no use for cars after all.

The box-set is not the only automated machine you decide to ruin. These so called mobiles, laptops and game consoles, which might be ‘trendy gadgets’, do seem to play the same monotonous dinging noise you call music. Fine you might enjoy it, but to repeatedly listen to the same song simply gets tiresome. The clamour literally makes me tremor.

Oh dear what is that smell? Clearly some of you believe that having a shower at least once a day is a curse. Before long your shadow, which follows behind you, is suffocated by the trial of midgets, melted sugar lumps, and sweaty particles that cloud upon it. Even from this height I need a mask to avoid inhaling your noxious fumes. Mine are bad enough let alone having to put up with yours.

This misery is prolonged into the dreariness which you call ‘night time’. Once you have finally decided to go to sleep upon your mattresses, I give off a cheer only for it to turn into a smoulder at the sound of your snoring. Sorry, should that be your squawking, hissing and snorting? I thought thunder was loud. I have been proved so wrong. If there happens to be a storm in the evening it is muffled by your nose motoring on. Have you not heard of these new remedies you can have? The signs would point to no. You do know I need my sleep as well.

The other day one of my neighbours told me that they had heard some of you ranting over a frivolous matter. It concerned who was going to put the rubbish on the curb. As I say, a trivial matter, but you reacted in such a hyperbolic way. Floorboards were thumped upon, plates were propelled across the room, and water pipes leaked. It was such a callous calamity which should have been just a calm conversation.

With the demonic commotion below, I do wonder why I have not intervened sooner. Then again I am an old fool who has been through such a dreadful history. Be it epidemics, wars or earthquakes, we lot have fallen but thanks to you have risen. Perhaps that is why we allow you to stay.

Just do us this one errand please. Before you make a decision that disturbance and feuding should take priority over serenity, consider our feelings too.

Your faithful companions from above,

…Every Brave Fighter…

Hey everyone! Jake here!

It is coming up to 11:00pm on Thursday 15th May 2014 as I begin to complete this blog post. By the time you get to read this it will be a brand new day, but the message will be the same.

Monday 19th May is known as World IBD Day. This is when us fighters, our loved ones, our friends, our supporters get together to raise awareness for both Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis.

I would like to take this opportunity to salute every courageous individual of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). We have all been through so much. No matter if you have been diagnosed twenty years ago or just five minutes previously, the journey behind has been hard and hopefully we can look on to a brighter future.

Be it hospital appointments, toilet stops, excruciating pain, medication, drips, colonoscopies, surgery, depression, anxiety or breakdowns, we have done amazingly well to cope. Yes, some have unfortunately fallen on the way. Hopefully there will be no more. We soldiers need to unite together. With every ounce of strength we shall find a way to defeat these demons.

Thanks to all those people that have enriched my life. It has been six years since I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. Since the age of thirteen your presence, compassion and wisdom have meant so much, especially when I thought I had lost it all. My family, friends, teachers, helpers and guiders, in a word you have been amazing. There are too many people to name but you know who you are.

So let us continue this battle against IBD until it has finally been beaten. Help me lead the way by showing your further support. Be it a ‘Like’ on a ‘Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis’ Facebook page or raising money for the brilliant charities, then please do it. Let us make 2014 the year both diseases are known all around the world. So that every brave fighter gets the help they need and ultimately deserves. Hopefully one day we will find that cure.

In the meantime please help me spread the word. Thanks for reading!

Quiz 1: Reading and Writing (1)

This week I have created an online quiz for all of you to take part in. It is on the subject of reading and writing. This is almost like a trial run. So if you do enjoy it quizzes may become a regular feature on the writing blog.

How good is your knowledge of literature then? Find out here!

Don’t forget to post your results, no matter how good or bad they might be. If you have any future quiz suggestions I would love to hear them also.

Thanks everyone and good luck.

The Journey to Paradise

The Journey to Paradise

Take flight young one, take flight young one,
Passed the combusting clouds and decaying sun,
Away from your homeland where it had once begun.
Your time upon this scorching morbid earth is now done.
Glide and slide through the opal sky to the diamond lane.
Flee from the violence, the disease, the grief and the pain,
And where it chooses to burn thunder and ignites heavy rain.
Journey to paradise and join the angels upon the spiritual plane.
Here you will find the kingdom of love and the citadel of giving,
Ultimately your new gilded home where you shall start your living.
