Hey everyone! Jake here!
It is coming up to 11:00pm on Thursday 15th May 2014 as I begin to complete this blog post. By the time you get to read this it will be a brand new day, but the message will be the same.
Monday
19th May is known as World IBD Day. This is when us fighters, our
loved ones, our friends, our supporters get together to raise awareness for both
Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
I
would like to take this opportunity to salute every courageous individual of
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). We have all been through so much. No matter
if you have been diagnosed twenty years ago or just five minutes previously,
the journey behind has been hard and hopefully we can look on to a brighter
future.
Be
it hospital appointments, toilet stops, excruciating pain, medication, drips,
colonoscopies, surgery, depression, anxiety or breakdowns, we have done
amazingly well to cope. Yes, some have unfortunately fallen on the way. Hopefully
there will be no more. We soldiers need to unite together. With every ounce of strength
we shall find a way to defeat these demons.
Thanks
to all those people that have enriched my life. It has been six years since I
was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. Since the age of thirteen your presence, compassion
and wisdom have meant so much, especially when I thought I had lost it all. My
family, friends, teachers, helpers and guiders, in a word you have been
amazing. There are too many people to name but you know who you are.
So
let us continue this battle against IBD until it has finally been beaten. Help
me lead the way by showing your further support. Be it a ‘Like’ on a ‘Crohn’s
Disease and Ulcerative Colitis’ Facebook page or raising money for the
brilliant charities, then please do it. Let us make 2014 the year both diseases
are known all around the world. So that every brave fighter gets the help they
need and ultimately deserves. Hopefully one day we will find that cure.
In
the meantime please help me spread the word. Thanks for reading!

DeleteJake, what an inspiration you are! Your words have truly touched my heart. I had my first symptoms of crohns when I was 15 years old, in 1994, and was diagnosed in 2000. I was then diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2012.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your blog, and the future, and keep fighting the fight.
I am really glad it did Lucy, and thank you for the kind words. I am sorry to hear of your diagnoses but all the best to you. Stay strong and let us hope one day we can find a cure.
DeleteThanks Jake! Diagnosed @19 in 2003, surgery 2011, in complete remission with diet! Keeping it at bay, fighting to uplift those who are still fighting! ^.^ MelHobbytheoneandonly.blogspot.com @EMSMelGirl - Twitter
